Scaffolding hiding the roof of the Elizabeth Tower, one of London’s most famous landmarks, which houses Big Ben, will begin to be removed in the coming days.
The renowned Big Ben tower has been hidden from view for 3 years as it undergoes extensive renovations. Scaffolding Direct London have been working hard to remove the 3,433 cast iron roof tiles and fix any crumbling stone work and leaks.
The unveiling of the roof is set to be a memorable moment in 2020, allowing the public and Members of Parliament to witness a glimpse of the completed work. It is estimated that the scaffolding will be removed in approximately six weeks, with the full refurbishment to be completed by the end of 2021.
