Scaffolding Industry urged to use NHS COVID-19 App
Business owners in the scaffolding industry have encouraged other British companies to implement the NHS COVID–19 app, which was released on the 24th of September for England and Wales.
The new app is designed to let customers and employees QR check-in at venues and construction sites, and will be an important way for NHS Test and Trace in England to contact multiple people when coronavirus outbreaks are identified.
Construction sites have been operating throughout the pandemic, using Site Operating Procedures to create COVID–secure environments. This model of safety best practice, exemplified by the Scaffold on Big Ben in London, has been adopted in other sectors across the country.
Contact-Tracing on the Scaffolding Site
We call on all employers in the scaffolding industry in London and Solihull to display QR codes prominently on sites and in workplaces and to take steps to persuade employees to download the app and use it every day. The contact tracing component of the app works by employing low–energy Bluetooth to record the time spent near other app users, and the distance between you, so that if someone you have been near afterwards tests positive for COVID–19, you will be informed even if you don‘t know each other or work together.
